Schnapps & Liqueurs
The valley has long winters, and long winters are when people pour. Long before anyone put a label on a bottle, there was one in a cellar somewhere that nobody asked too many questions about.
These stand on the shelf of our shop in Bad Gastein. Some are our own recipe; all of them were chosen because they belong to an evening in the mountains. Alte Zirbe, a Zirbenschnaps of stone pine cones, resinous and rested in wood. Zirben Gin, juniper first, the Zirbe in the finish. Alter Williams from Williams pears, an espresso liqueur for after dinner, salted caramel, mango habanero with its slow heat, and rum for those who came for rum.
A bottle carries well down the mountain, as a gift or as proof you were here. If you would rather taste first, the shop pours before you decide.
The rest is up to you and whoever is sitting across the table.
